Annual Symposium 2017
The 2nd annual symposium of the FoS Postdoc society will be held on the 23rd of November, 2-5pm, room 303-PLT1. Like last year, every postdoc and early career researcher will have the chance to give a three-minute presentation about their work to a diverse audience. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about what your colleagues in other groups and departments are working on.
Please register as soon as possible using the following form: Link
Alison Ballance, Producer and presenter of Our Changing World
Alison is a zoologist and wildlife filmmaker, presenting Our Changing World on Radio NZ. Her programme is about “getting out in the field and the lab to bring you stories about science, nature and the environment”.
Mark Costello, Associate Professor in Marine Science
Mark is Associate Professor in the University of Auckland. He studies patterns of species richness in marine ecosystems and will give a talk about “What would I tell my younger self”.
The symposium will consist into two keynotes (see above), followed by a mix of invited postdoc 15-minutes talks and contributed postdoc 3-minutes talks. Do not hesitate to submit a 3-minutes talk when filling the form above. Complimentary coffee and tea will be offered during break(s), as well as catering at the end of the symposium for a social/networking time. Prizes will be offered to the best invited and the best 3-minutes talk.
Interview by Alison Ballance
Alison would like to interview a few of our postdocs about their work for Our Changing World. If you are interested in participating, please indicate this in the Google Form as well. You will need to provide 2-3 sentences about what you would talk about, for her to chose the most suitable candidates.
Super nice symposium, congrats guys!
