Seed Funding
The FoS RF Society Seed Fund provides strategic research support to help develop independent research projects, improve chances of success with external funding agencies, and embark on new fields of research. The fund will provide up to $5,000 for research activity. Applications close in February.
Travel Assistance Funds
We will provide funding to support domestic ($500) and international ($1,000) travel across two rounds annually. The deadline for the first round closes at the end of March and included any conferences or similar events taking place before the 31stJuly. Applications for the second round close at the end of May. This round includes travel from 1st August until 31st December. If your travel is related to professional development (e.g. visiting another research group for essential tasks), please see alternative opportunities below.
Publishing and Professional Development Funds
The Society also has funding available for publication costs and professional development opportunities (e.g. equipment training, research lab visits, programming language and bioinformatic courses etc.). Applications will be open on a rolling basis throughout the year, but close on 1st September. There are a limited number of funds available which will be awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis. Publication funding is to aid fellows who cannot cover expenses of publishing a manuscript through other departmental or faculty funding.
